Technical Designer
Location: On-Site, Stockholm, Sweden
Start Date: Q3 2026
Seniority Level: Mid-level (2–5 years)
Contract Type: Full-time Employment
About the role
We are looking for a Technical Designer to join a small, fast-moving team working on Unreal Engine 5 projects. This is a hands-on role where you will shape gameplay directly in-engine, bridging ideas and implementation to create meaningful player experiences.
You’ll be part of a tight-knit team of around 3–5 people, working closely with programmers and artists under the guidance of the Game Director. Together, you’ll prototype, iterate, and refine ideas quickly, exploring different directions and pushing them into playable form.
This role is for someone who enjoys experimenting, building, and figuring things out along the way. You’re not just designing on paper, you’re in the engine making things work, feel right, and evolve through iteration. We’re looking for someone proactive, curious, and motivated, who wants to contribute creatively and take ownership of features from idea to implementation.
This is an in-house position, as such candidates must be able to work in Stockholm, Sweden.

Prototype and iterate on mechanics using scripting/visual scripting
Collaborate closely with programmers to define and refine systems

Around 2–5 years of experience in game development in a design or technical design role
Strong understanding of game design principles and player experience
Experience with scripting or visual scripting (Blueprints, C#, etc.)
Ability to implement and iterate on gameplay features in-engine (Unreal 5)
Comfortable working between design and programming
Strong problem-solving and prototyping skills
Understanding of UX and player feedback loops
Experience shipping at least one game
Good communication skills in English
Nice to Have
Experience balancing and tuning gameplay systems
Familiarity with state machines, behavior systems, or similar tools
Experience collaborating closely with programmers on system design
Bonus Points
Experience owning features end-to-end (concept to implementation)
Experience working in small, fast-paced indie teams
Ability to prototype ideas quickly
Some programming knowledge beyond scripting
Who You Are
You’re curious, motivated, and eager to grow. You don’t just execute ideas, you explore them. You’re excited by games, especially indie and atmospheric experiences, and you bring inspiration from outside the industry into your work.
You enjoy learning, experimenting, and pushing ideas further. You’re someone who takes initiative and builds your own skill set over time.
You’re collaborative, grounded, and easy to work with. No big egos, no lone heroes, just people who enjoy building things together. You care about the work, the team, and the process.
