About the role

We are seeking a hands-on Game Director to lead a new team within Envar Games, designed to be small - around 5 people, and swift. The team needs a leader, is that you?

As a Game Director you will establish, own and drive the vision for your game and team, guiding a tight-knit team and aligning around clear direction. Leading a smaller team of around 5 people, you will also be expected to contribute to development, not just lead.

The ideal candidate for this role has shipped a number of games and is experienced in a discipline such as Design, Code or Art. You’re a strong leader who also contributes actively to development.

This is an in-house position, as such candidates must be able to work in Stockholm, Sweden.

As part of this recruitment process, candidates who move to later stages will be asked to pitch a game concept to help us align early on vision, direction and ways of working.

We want you to feel immediate ownership and trust within your role.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the vision and creative framework

• Leading a tight-knit team

• Work together with Head of Envar Games to establish clear goals and deliverables

• Advocate for high-quality deliveries that are aligned with studio goals and values

• Contribute directly to the development of the game/s you direct

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in the gaming industry having shipped at least two titles, preferably Indie or AA

• Hands-on experience as a Designer, Programmer or Artist

• Passion for games developed swiftly and in a smaller team where each team member may wear several hats

• Knowledge of game industry-standard software tools, design documents, and production processes/best practices

• Strong time-management skills with the ability to focus on priorities, manage change and deliver against agreed deadlines

• Proven ability to work under rapid development cycles

• Strong decision-making capabilities with a demonstrable ability to think outside the box

• Strong mediation and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and organizational skills in English

Bonus Points

• Proven experience shipping games with an industry-standard engine such as Unreal or Unity

• Experience building and leading teams
